Amazon’s Prime Video has seen the light: Faith-based entertainment can be very good for business.

House of David was a massive hit for Prime Video earlier this year, attracting 22 million viewers in its first 17 days. And you probably don’t need a reminder of how big a show The Chosen (also on Prime) has become over its first five seasons.

Now Prime is set to deliver more of both—but with a bit of a twist.

House of David Will Launch Second Season on New Subscription Service

The Wonder Project, the organization behind House of David, is creating its very own subscription service—available exclusively through Amazon’s Prime Video. The second season of the flagship series will premiere on the Wonder Project service Oct. 3.

That second season will have some company. According to a Wonder Project press release, the new service will include more than 1,000 hours of “hand-picked films and TV series from across multiple genres.” On the movie side, for instance, Dead Poets Society and Lincoln joins American Underdog and Jesus Revolution. You’ll also be able to watch such television shows as Sherlock and The Conners.

Some of those names underline an important point: Titles on the Wonder Project platform can come with some issues. As always, it’d be a good idea to check the Plugged In review before watching.

And, of course, the service will also literally cost you: A subscription runs $8.99 a month or $89.99 a year on top of what you’re paying for Prime itself. But you can check out all the details here.

The Chosen Adventures Lands on Prime Oct. 17

In Mark 10:14-15, Jesus says, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

Well, children take center stage in The Chosen Adventures, a new animated series to be released on Prime Video Oct. 17.

The series focuses on 9-year-old Abby, her friend Joshua and a talking sheep (you read that right) as they run around Capernaum and meet some very familiar biblical characters. It’s clearly a lighter, kid-friendly take on biblical times. And while The Chosen had the Scriptures to follow, The Chosen Adventures likely cuts its own path—pairing a biblical setting and Christian messages with plenty of creative license.

We’ve not seen the show just yet, but we’ll definitely watch and write a review as soon as we have a chance.
