Christie Brinkley issued a passionate response to the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after Jimmy Kimmel‘s comments about Charlie Kirk‘s death.

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Nexstar—one of ABC‘s largest affiliate groups—pulled the show “indefinitely.” Nexstar said it “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” according to a statement to Variety.

That same night, Brinkley, 71, took to her Instagram Stories to publicly share her reaction to the shocking news.

“The laughter they provide us is as important as the air we breath[e]! Brinkley wrote next to a photo of late-night hosts John Oliver,Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. “And they are taking another one of them off the air tonight!”

The supermodel, 71, she boldly declared, “WE MUST PROTECT their and OUR 1st A[m]endment RIGHTS!!!!”

On Sept. 10, Kirk, 31, a conservative activist and the founder of Turning Point USA, died after he was shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. The gunman was taken into custody on Sept. 12, following a manhunt, CBS News reported.

Kimmelinitially responded to Kirk’s Sept. fatal shooting on his show on Sept. 11, sharing, “I’ve seen some extraordinarily vile responses to this from both sides of the political spectrum. Some people are cheering this, which is something I won’t ever understand.”

He then addressed responses from Trump and his supporters to Kirk’s death on the Sept. 15 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“We had some new lows over the weekend,” he said on the late-night show. “With the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.”

In the wake of Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely being pulled, other celebrities have shared their reactions on social media. Former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell issued a bold political response on Instagram, while Little House on the Prairie icon Melissa Gilbert sent a direct message from Kimmel’s suspension.

Meanwhile, late-night TV viewers are still waiting for a response from other late-night hosts, especially Colbert, after Kimmel spoke out to support him when ABC announced the cancellation of Late Night With Stephen Colbert. Colbert snagged his first Emmy for best talk series on Sept. 14 after Kimmel paid for a billboard urging members of the Television Academy to vote for him.
