Circo Osorio Circus is a Las Vegas-based circus that visits Vancouver with shows in Abbotsford, Surrey and other communities.

The Latin-influenced circus has visited the Lower Mainland many times with its acrobats, clowns and jugglers. It’s a fun circus, and very affordable!

In 2024 the circus performs in Abbotsford, Surrey and Tsawwassen between September 5th and 22nd. The circus also has shows in both Richmond and Coquitlam between October 10th and 28th. Between the two Lower Mainland series of dates, Circo Osorio visits Nanaimo and Victoria.

Circo Osorio Circus

As part of its 2024 “The Circus Comes to Town” tour of British Columbia, American Crown Circus & Circo Osorio presents an international showcase of circus talent from around the world.

This year the circus comes in September to Abbotsford’s Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, Surrey’s Guildford Town Centre, and Delta’s Tsawwassen Mills Mall. In October the circus plays at Lansdowne Centre in Richmond and Coquitlam Centre in Coquitlam.

See below for details about the 2024 shows.

For tickets and full details, see the official American Crown Circus website.

TIP: If buying tickets online, one free child (ages 10 and under) can get in for free with each paying adult. To get this deal though, you have to purchase your admission online in advance and book the free ticket at the same time as the adult ticket.

What to Expect at Circo Osorio

Circo Osorio has a definite Latin flavour to it. Although now based in Las Vegas, the circus’s owners are originally from Puerto Vallarta and many of the performers are from various Latin American countries. As a result, expect the shows to be loud, exciting, lots of fun, and thoroughly entertaining – much like a traditional Mexican-fiesta-style circus.

At each location the circus sets up its Big Top in a shopping mall parking lot. The giant circus tent holds between 650 and 700 people. The action takes place on and above a large square-shaped stage at the front. As the stage is raised up a bit, all the acts are easy to see.

Seating is in chairs with backs, and they are also slightly padded, which is great. Parking at each venue is both free and convenient.

Circo Osorio features a ringmaster, acrobats, clowns and other traditional circus performers, but no exotic animals (which is nice in this day and age). There are no tigers in cages, no elephants to ride and no bears in captivity – just human circus talent from around the world!

Shows usually last for about 60 minutes with a 15-minute intermission in the middle. During the intermission you can buy popcorn, soft drinks and other circus snacks, as well as a variety of souvenirs including balloons and toys with flashing lights.

For tickets and full details see the official American Crown Circus website.

Tickets and Admission

In 2024, admission to the circus cost around $25 or so for adults and $8 for kids (ages 10 and under), plus GST. This is if you buy your tickets in advance online. If you buy your tickets at the gate on the day of the show, they cost a few dollars more.

IMPORTANT NOTES: In 2024, every adult ticket purchased comes with free admission for one child aged 10 and under, but only when the tickets are purchased online. You only have to buy a kid’s ticket if you’re taking more than one child per adult.

The Box Office typically opens one hour before show time each day and circus attendees are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the performance.

Other Tips & Advice

Above are tips and suggestions that are specific to each of the venues. Below are additional general tips to help you make the most of your circus experience regardless of which location you attend.

TIP #1: Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan to arrive and get in line between 30 and 45 minutes prior to your show. This will help you get a good seat in the Big Top, and ensure the place doesn’t fill up before you get in.

TIP #2: The Big Top is pretty big, but it’s not a huge venue. With a maximum capacity of around 700 people, pretty much every seat is close to the action. Best views in the house though are right at ringside (unless you have neck issues in which case you might want to sit towards the back because you’ll need to look up for the aerial acrobats).

TIP #3: Circo Osorio is a cash-based organization, so everything on site is CASH ONLY (or at least it was the last time we went). There is a cash machine on-site, which is good, and other ATM machines are available in the malls.

TIP #4: One child (ages 1 to 10) can get in for free when accompanied by a paying adult. To qualify for this though, you have to buy your tickets online and select the free child option.

TIP #5: The Circo Osorio Circus is especially fun for families with young children. Kids ages 3 to 12 will especially love it!

TIP #6: A number of acts require volunteers from the audience. To increase your chances of being chosen, sit in the middle of the Big Top near the front of the stage and wave and smile eagerly. Parents – have your cameras ready!

About the Circus

American Crown Circus & Circo Osorio was named after the Osorio family who started their circus company in Mexico in the 1920s. Since that time the family has taken its  shows to over 800 cities across Mexico, the United States and Canada.

“All of your senses are triggered once you enter the tent,” says Master Ringmaster and fourth generation circus owner, Rober Osorio. “Children and adults enter the magical tent, smell the popcorn and cotton candy, hear the music and see the audiences cheering as they become a part of the show … . It’s quite the sensational experience!”

Still today, Circo Osorio is very much a family-run business. Several of the performers and people behind the scenes at each show are brothers and other family members.

Circus Video

To give you an idea of what to expect, below is a short video of the show we saw at Coquitlam Centre a few years ago. As you’ll see, the circus features a wide variety of clever acts that appeal to people of all ages.
