It’ll be a while before Cirque du Soleil returns to Vancouver, but the 10th anniversary of its spectacular production, Luzia, will be well worth the wait!

In November of 2026, the Big Top at Concord Pacific Place will once again transform for the whimsy, artistry, and boldness that every Cirque show brings.

Described by the New York Times as “Cirque du Soleil at its peak,” Luzia transports audiences on a dazzling trip to an imagined version of Mexico, where breathtaking acrobatic performances meet surrealism through vibrant sets, costumes, and daring acts. It’s also the first touring Cirque du Soleil production to incorporate rain in its acrobatic scenes, taking the show’s playfulness to a whole new level.

Indoor rain

“This spectacle of engineering is made possible by a 10,000-litre (2641-gallon) water system beneath the stage floor,” explains Cirque du Soleil. “Some 46 feet above the stage in the rafters, 174 individually controlled nozzles open and close nearly 200 times per second, creating the amazing images and patterns seen throughout the show.”

To bring this “water curtain” to life, the production uses over 10,000 litres of recycled water and runs it through nearly 95,000 tiny holes that allow the water to drain into a basin hidden by the stage.

Jaw-dropping acts

The story passes smoothly from an old movie set to the ocean, to a smoky dance hall, borrowing both traditions and modernity from the “places, faces, and sounds of Mexico.”

First debuting in Toronto in 2016, Luzia will make its way to Vancouver from Nov. 4 to Dec. 15, 2026.

Highlights include jaw-dropping acts like a contortionist twisting his body into unimaginable positions, an aerial straps specialist defying the laws of gravity, and two football (soccer) freestylers mixing street dance with ball manipulation.
