Hilton has signed an agreement with ORIX Real Estate Corporation to introduce the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand to Kobe, Hyogo prefecture. The Conrad Kobe, scheduled to open in 2030, will be managed by Hilton and marks the company’s entry into Hyogo prefecture, expanding its presence in the Kansai region.
The hotel will occupy the upper floors of a mixed-use high-rise within the Kobe City Hall Building No. 2 redevelopment project. The development is led by a consortium headed by ORIX Real Estate Corporation and includes six additional companies. The building will have direct underground access to Sannomiya-Hanadokeimae Station and is located between the redeveloping waterfront district and the city center, near attractions such as the Former Foreign Settlement of Kobe and Nankinmachi.
Conrad Kobe will feature 136 guest rooms and suites. Planned amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, a cocktail bar, an executive lounge, a spa, a fitness center, and an indoor swimming pool. The property will also offer a ballroom of approximately 500 square meters, along with a suite of meeting spaces for events and gatherings.
The Conrad Kobe project is part of the redevelopment of Kobe City Hall Building No. 2 and is being developed in collaboration with Kobe City and seven private-sector companies.
Kobe recorded 7.75 million visitor stays in 2025, including 1.4 million international stays. The city’s tourism sector is supported by the internationalization of Kobe Airport and plans to launch scheduled international flights by 2030.
Conrad Hotels & Resorts currently operates in Tokyo and Osaka, with Conrad Kobe among three pipeline properties. Conrad Nagoya is scheduled to open in July 2026, followed by Conrad Yokohama in 2027. Waldorf Astoria Osaka opened last year, with Waldorf Astoria Tokyo Nihonbashi hotel and residences set to open in 2027.
