TROY, Mich. (FOX 2) – Local police are responding to a shooting scene at Corewell Health Beaumont hospital in Troy.
Troy police confirmed one person was shot in a targeted incident in the parking deck next to the facility. The suspect remains at large.
What we know:
Local police from Oakland and Macomb counties responded to reports of an active shooter at Corewell Health Beaumont hospital in Troy on Thursday morning.
At 7:08 a.m., Troy police received a call from the hospital security about a shooting that happened in the parking garage.
Local police learned a handgun had been fired five times and a victim had been struck twice in the arm. His car was also struck.
Lieutenant Ben Hancock said the shooting was a “targeted incident between two employees at the hospital.”
The victim, a 25-year-old man from Troy, is currently in stable condition.
Police do not believe the suspect is at the hospital.
Several police agencies including federal law enforcement also assisted, with agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in Detroit at the scene.
A Corewell spokesperson said the Troy hospital was on lockdown.
What we don’t know:
Police don’t know what led up to the shooting and are searching for the suspect.
A manhunt is underway for the shooter, with law enforcement around the region assisting in the search. Helicopters and K-9 units are being used in the search.
Police were able to identify the shooter based on what the victim told them.

Local perspective:
Following the shooting, other Corewell Health locations are going into lockdown.
Police had nearby schools and daycare centers go into a soft lockdown. Police were also close to clearing out the hospital at the time of the first update from local law enforcement.
The Troy School District also sent a statement that its classrooms were safe and secure.
“We have taken additional security measures, and our team is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities,” said a spokesperson. “Schools remain in session, and our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We will continue to keep you informed as needed.”
What you can do:
Police have asked the public to avoid the area.
The hospital is located off of Dequindre Road, south of the M-59 highway.
Anyone that has scheduled appointments today should not come to the building. Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly.
