You don’t really think about how much time you spend standing in your kitchen until you get one of those cushioned mats and suddenly realize your feet don’t hurt anymore. It’s one of those small upgrades that sneaks up on you. At first you’re like, “Oh, this is nice,” and then a few days later you’re wondering how you ever stood at the sink or stove without it.

Because when you actually stop and think about it, the kitchen is basically mission control for being on your feet. You’re cooking, prepping, wiping counters, doing dishes (constantly, somehow), grabbing snacks—you’re always standing in the same few spots for way longer than you realize. It adds up.

Thomasville Comfort Mat, Accent & Runner – 2-pack, $34.99 (reg. $39.99) at Costco

Thomasville Comfort Mat, Accent & Runner 2-pack

Costco

That’s why a good mat can make such a difference, and Costco is selling a two-pack of Thomasville Comfort Mats that prove it. The set includes both a longer runner and smaller accent mat, and right now you can get the set for $34.99 with a manufacturer’s coupon on Costco.com. Typically the pair cost $39.99.

What I love is that the Thomasville Comfort Mat set comes in four different colorways—there’s the blue shown above, a yellow featuring a lemon motif, navy with a lovely floral pattern, and ivory which boasts a more delicate vintage floral vibe.

Each mat has a nice bit of cushion (not too bulky, but enough to actually make a difference), and they stay put thanks to the non-slip backing, which is key. They’re also stain-resistant, so you’re not panicking over every little spill, and the printed designs make them look a lot nicer than your typical utilitarian mat. Basically, they’re practical, comfortable and don’t mess up your kitchen’s overall style.

As far as what Costco members are saying about the mats, they generally love them.

“These are beautiful,” writes a shopper in their review. “And the cushioning is just right. They replaced my old plain brown mats and look so much better in my kitchen. When new out of the package, set them outside in the sun for a couple hours to get rid of the ‘new rubber smell.’ Works like a charm.”

The only purchasing decision that’s going to be difficult here is deciding which of the pretty colorways to choose from. Other than that, you’ll want to buy the set while the manufacturer’s coupon applies to get the best price.
