The sad truth is we have lost a lot of legends who left indelible marks on society. Though we may be missing them, one cool thing we get to witness is their children and even grandchildren carrying on their legacy.

Country icons George Jones and Tammy Wynette first met in 1968 in a Nashville recording studio while Wynette was married to her second husband Don Chapel, a part-time songwriter and hotel clerk. The pair got together shortly after and married in 1969. The two were dubbed country royalty, and had their first “princess” together (though they each had three children from previous marriages) on October 5, 1970, Tamela Georgette Jones.

The years following were tumultuous, but despite the two filing for divorce twice, the pair went on to record several songs together including hits “Near You” and “Golden Ring.”

Following in their footsteps their daughter, who’s stage name is Georgette Jones, made a career of her own, with several songs taking off on 2010. Recently she made a rare appearance on social media along side the grandsons of other country legends The Statler Brothers singing her parent’s song “Golden Ring.”

Fans were delighted to see all three pop up on their timeline and particularly floored over how much she sounds like her mama.

‘Y’all are just awesome,” gushed one fan in the comments. “Georgette, you sound just like your mom! And guys? Y’all sound like your grandparents! Keep on singing! You all are wonderful!”

“She has Tammy’s voice,” another simply stated.

While Georgette isn’t wildly active on all socials, she is still touring the country singing a mix of her hits as well as some of her parents’ iconic songs. In 2023 she made her Opry debut, honoring her mother’s passing 25 years ago.
