Riley Green’s recent concert overseas took a sudden and unexpected turn when a fan hurled a mobile phone at the stage, which hit him, leaving him with a noticeable injury on the side of the face.
The surprising moment happened mid-show on Saturday, March 14, at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia. Green, 37, was talking to his fans when an object flung toward him, prompting him to pause his set as his crew sprang into action to make sure he was OK.
The Moment Has Gone Viral on Social Media
A TikTok video shared by one fan, who appeared to have been at the concert, shows the moment as it happened. The clip shows the device in mid-air as it smacks Green, resulting in a quick response from the audience.
@chelseamiriam_ The lack of respect some people have is unreal! Poor Riley Green, he is a trooper though, kept on playing even though he had blood running down his neck! #cowboyasitgetstour #rileygreen

Several TikTok users also reacted to the clip, with the majority of them agreeing that the incident was disrespectful.
“How crazy some people really are. So disrespectful. Hope you’re ok, Riley,” one person wrote in the comment section of the clip, while another follower added, “If you don’t like him, then don’t buy his tickets. This is disgusting.”
A third fan wrote, “Holy cow, that’s insane,” while a fourth added, “That’s messed up.”
A second TikTok video shows the aftermath of the phone-throw, with Green appearing to receive care from his team, who wipes away blood from an area of his ear. The “Worst Way” singer continued performing for a short time with blood still visible running down his neck, though it’s unclear how long those moments lasted.

The Fan Was Immediately Removed From the Venue
According to CountryTown, Green addressed the moment over the microphone, making it known that the rude behaviour was unacceptable. The reckless fan who threw the phone was immediately escorted out.
Though he likely could’ve called it a night, Green did his best not to let one bad apple ruin what was supposed to be a moment of fun for others. The country music star, 37, moved on from the unfortunate incident and resumed his show.
