Country Star's Husband Crashes Her Concert for Emotional Duet: 'I Bawled'

When you buy tickets to see Trisha Yearwood in concert, don’t always expect to see her husband, Garth Brooks, take the stage. But one lucky crowd was in for a special surprise — a duet celebrating the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary.

Yearwood is currently on her ChristmastimeTour, promoting her new holiday album and what she calls her “12 Days of Christmas celebration.” 

One standout track, “Merry Christmas, Valentine,” co-written by Yearwood and Brooks, has quickly become a fan favorite. 

During her Atlanta concert on Wednesday, December 10, the song took on extra meaning. Just as the show neared its finale, Brooks appeared on stage to perform alongside Yearwood. 

At one point, the two adorably held hands while singing to each other. Brooks even stepped aside from center stage to let Yearwood have her solo moment — and it’s no wonder fans are calling them the ultimate couple. 

Yearwood later posted a video of their performance, and fans flooded the comments, sharing how inspired they are by the couple’s love.

“When I tell you I bawled when this happened. Your happiness makes me so very happy! Thank you for sharing your anniversary with us,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Last night was amazing! This moment melted my heart!” 

A third shared, “I have said this since day one; Get you a garth and trisha kind of love.”

Twenty years ago, Brooks and Yearwood tied the knot in a private ceremony near Tulsa, Oklahoma, shortly after he proposed at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA.

The couple attended the “Legends in Bronze” event, which featured bronze statues of Brooks and nine other country music icons. The country superstar got down on one knee after his own statue, complete with a wedding band on the left ring finger, was unveiled. 

“All I can say is that I am so happy,” Yearwood said at the time. “What I’m feeling right now, I would wish on anyone.”

Amid the celebration, Yearwood is carrying on with her holiday tour through December, followed by an intimate acoustic tour planned for the spring.

Yearwood is also set to release a deluxe edition of her latest studio album, The Mirror, on January 23, giving fans plenty to look forward to.

Meanwhile, Brooks has been keeping busy. He recently released The Anthology VI: The Next Five Years, a six-CD collection spanning his massive stadium tour, dive bar series, two studio records and his recent Las Vegas residency. 

The anthology features 60 tracks, along with never-before-seen photos, live covers, collaborations and more.

In 2026, Brooks will headline multiple shows, including London’s Hyde Park, where he’ll make his first appearance in nearly 30 years. Fans can also enjoy performances from the Zac Brown Band and Ashley McBryde as opening acts.
