Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update is mostly about fixing lingering bugs, but hidden deep in the patch notes is something pretty exciting.

Ahead of the release of Nvidia’s new line of GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs on Jan. 30, folks playing Cyberpunk 2077 on soon-to-be-outdated PCs are now able to mess around with a few new DLSS 4 (or “deep learning super sampling”) features. These include an enhanced single-frame generation model that both increases performance and lowers VRAM usage, as well as a new Transformer model for improved stability, lighting, and detail in motion

As reported by The Verge, users of the Nvidia subreddit are already playing with this technology and sharing comparison screenshots.

Cyberpunk 2077 players who upgrade to an RTX 50 series GPU later this month will also gain access to something called Multi Frame Generation which, according to the patch notes, “boosts FPS by using AI to generate up to three times per traditionally rendered frame.” Sounds neat!

Nvidia released a giant list of games on Jan. 6 that will also take advantage of this DLSS 4 technology eventually, including Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarök, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Marvel Rivals, Microsoft Flight Simulator, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and many more.
