Mike McCarthy’s contract will not be renewed at the end of his five-year deal.

McCarthy’s contract was set to expire on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, the Cowboys refused to allow the Chicago Bears to interview McCarthy.

The Cowboys had exclusive negotiating rights with the coach until Jan. 14.

The Bears and Saints are expected to be among the teams interested in McCarthy.

By the numbers:

McCarthy’s record as the Cowboys’ head coach was 49-35.

During his tenure, McCarthy’s Cowboys have scored more points on offense and taken the ball away more times on defense than every single team except the Buffalo Bills.

Under McCarthy, the Cowboys posted a 1-3 record in the postseason.
