Anna Nicole Smith‘s daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, is gearing up for another Kentucky Derby weekend with her father, Larry Birkhead. And she looked like her mom’s twin while wearing Smith’s old dress at a red carpet event the night before.
On Friday, May 2, Dannielynn, 18, and her dad, 52, stepped out together for the Barnstable Brown Gala in Louisville, Ky.

Larry took to Instagram with a carousel of snaps from the event, held at actress Patricia Barnstable Brown‘s hilltop mansion. There, he shared details about Dannielynn’s stunning black gown for the evening.
“Kicking off @kentuckyderby weekend with Dannielynn. First up, The Barnstable-Brown Gala,” the doting dad captioned his update.
Larry explained, “Dannielynn is wearing Anna Nicole’s dress that she wore 21 years ago to this same event. Life full circle. She said she chose the dress because it was her Mom’s and ‘super cool.'”
In 2007, Smith died from an accidental overdose when Dannielynn was just 5 months old. The now 18-year-old’s resemblance to her famous mom was undeniable in Larry’s snaps. Take a look!

Fittingly, the 2003 Barnstable Brown Gala is where Larry and Smith first met.
“It’s funny how one event can change your life,” he told People of the fateful meeting. “And that’s what this party did for me. If I had not been there that night and had that connection, how different my life would have been if I hadn’t met Anna and had our daughter.”
On Sunday, Larry and Dannielynn will don their Kentucky Derby best as they watch the annual race at Churchill Downs. Attending the event has been a tradition for the father and daughter for years, and fans always look forward to the photos.
