Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen injured after attack in Florida – National

A 19-year-old man has been charged with assault after attacking Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen outside a hotel in Florida on Sunday.
Police say Max Edward Hartley, an Ohio native, jumped out from behind a pillar and Paid Allen lost his arm in a car accident in 1984. Allen, 59, was reportedly smoking outside his Four Seasons in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at the time of the attack.

A police report from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said the charge from Hartley caused Allen to fall and “hit his head on the ground and injured himself.”
A woman in the hotel witnessed the attack and tried to intervene. Police claim she was also attacked, and that Hartley “continued to hit and beat her” while she was lying on the ground. reportedly grabbed the victim’s hair.
Hartley was charged with two counts of assault, four counts of criminal mischief and abuse of an elderly or disabled person, but no significant harm was done.

After the attack, Hartley fled the scene, but was caught smashing a car window at a nearby hotel and arrested.
Hartley was released on bail from the Broward County Jail on Tuesday. He has not publicly commented on the charges against him.
7 News Miami asked Hartley if he was a fan of Def Leppard, but received no response.
Allen is cooperating with police and intends to file charges, the outlet reported.
British rock band Def Leppard, formed in 1976, were in Fort Lauderdale to co-headline with rock band Motley Crue on Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
