Following her upset in the best actress category at the Oscars on Sunday, March 2, Demi Moore opted to skip out of a party thrown by the distributor of her film The Substance.

A source confirmed to Parade that Moore decided not to go to the party after she lost the best actress Academy Award to Mikey Madison for her role in Anora.

Moore, 62, was considered the favorite going into the ceremony for her role in the sci-fi epic The Substance and was getting a lot of attention for her comeback after a long career that included several iconic roles but few awards for her acting.

However, Madison, 25, took the award for best actress and Anora also surprised by taking the awards for best picture, best editing, best director and best original screenplay.

Despite the loss, Moore appeared to be a gracious loser when Madison was announced as the winner of the best actress award. She was shown in the crowd applauding, but apparently after the loss she was in no mood for partying.

Even without the star in attendance, the party–staged by Mubi, a streaming platform, production company and distributor—went on at the Soho House Holloway in West Hollywood, as per The U.S. Sun.

Although she didn’t win an Oscar, Moore swept the lead actress awards in the run up to the big show, winning honors at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards and SAG Awards.

Moore had seemingly prepared herself for a possible loss at the Oscars. “Whatever happens, I just keep focusing on remembering not to make it mean too much, but also not to make it mean too little. But I can enjoy all of it,” she told The New York Times last month.

Although she didn’t make reference to Moore by name, Madison praised her fellow actresses during her Oscars acceptance speech. “I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you.”

For her part, Moore posted a video of her Oscar prep on Instagram, showing scenes of her getting ready for the big night as well as what could have been her post-show comedown. In that scene, she’s wearing a white robe and chowing down on some fries from two large bowls in front of her.

In the caption she wrote, “As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started! So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light. Thank you to the cast, crew, and fans of @trythesubstance — @isimostar and @coralie_fargeat it’s been such an honor to work alongside you, learn from you, and celebrate this film with you. And a huge congratulations to #MikeyMadison — can’t wait to see what you do next ♥️”
