One of the coolest actors of our generation fittingly played it cool at his latest movie premiere.

Denzel Washington went casual in jeans to the Brooklyn, New York premiere of Highest 2 Lowest, his fifth collaboration with Spike Lee that hits theaters Aug. 15.

Also spotted on the red carpet to celebrate the upcoming Apple and A24 crime thriller were director Lee, 68, as well as co-stars Jeffrey Wright and rappers ASAP Rocky and Ice Spice.

Rocky was donning Celine, as confirmed by Just Jared, which posted other red-carpet photos from the NYC premiere.

Highest 2 Lowest will begin streaming on Sept. 5 following its Aug. 15 cinematic release. The film is a modern reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film, High and Low, a cult favorite celebrated for its social commentary.

The official Highest 2 Lowest trailer dropped on Aug. 4 and ignited a firestorm of excitement, with fans flooding social media to share their unfiltered thoughts.

Highest 2 Lowest marks the fifth collaboration between Academy Award-winners Washington, 70, and Lee. It all started back in 1990 with the jazz drama Mo’ Better Blues, followed by the biopic Malcolm X in 1992, which earned Washington an Oscar nomination. They reunited for the acclaimed basketball drama He Got Game in 1998 and the heist film Inside Man in 2006.

In May, Washington turned heads with a rare Cannes appearance to promote Highest 2 Lowest, donning a black suit and white sneakers on the red carpet. He waved to the crowd and posed with his co-stars, including Rocky, 36. Deadline reported that Washington was given an honorary Palme d’Or during the 2025 festival in France.

In June 2025, it was announced that Washington is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he’s been cast for Black Panther 3. MCU fans have waited a long time to see an iconic actor like Washington take on a role within the franchise.
