After a short stint on the platform, the hit Showtime serial killer drama Dexter is scheduled to depart Netflix in all remaining international regions at the end of March 2026.
This global removal follows the show’s departure from Netflix US last year, which happened after a brief one-year licensing window. International fans were lucky enough to get a slightly longer deal, but that two-year window is now coming to a close.
According to newly surfacing removal notices on the Netflix platform, Dexter will leave Netflix in over 30 countries on March 30th and March 31st, 2026.
The data lines up perfectly with a standard two-year licensing agreement. The series touched down in most of these international regions (including the UK, Canada, India, and large parts of Europe) on March 31st or April 1st, 2024. Now, exactly 24 months later, the contract is expiring.
Has the show been a hit on Netflix? Unsurprisingly, yes. According to Netflix’s official Engagement Reports for 2024 and 2025, the serial-killer drama was a massive draw. Across all eight seasons, Dexter racked up over 170.3 million views and generated more than 1.8 billion hours of watch time globally. Season 1 led the pack with 38.6 million views, proving that the licensing deal successfully introduced the classic Showtime series to a massive new audience.
For those unfamiliar with the acclaimed drama, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a mild-mannered blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer targeting criminals who have escaped the justice system. The hit series also features a standout supporting cast, including Jennifer Carpenter, Julie Benz, David Zayas, and James Remar.

Where will Dexter stream next?
Because Dexter is a Showtime original series, the underlying rights belong to Paramount.
If you don’t manage to finish your rewatch before the series departs Netflix later this month, your best bet to stream the show will be on Paramount+ in regions where the service is available. Paramount has been steadily reclaiming its legacy titles to bolster its own streaming catalog, which is why we’ve seen shows like Dexter enjoy only temporary, non-exclusive windows on Netflix over the past couple of years to help drive new viewership.
