It turns out the rumors are true—sort of.

Fans got all riled up late last month when word broke that Dr Pepper was reportedly reviving an “iconic” flavor: Vanilla Float. While we knew it was going to be a limited edition this summer, it’s turned out to be even more limited than we thought, with foodstagrammer Markie_devo revealing that only residents and visitors to one lucky state will be able to get their hands on the beverage: Louisiana.

A search of many U.S. zip codes on Walmart’s listing for the flavor seems to confirm the devastating news, with shipping blocked off as an option and only Louisiana stores shown to be carrying it—leading folks, including the influencer, to wonder, “Chat! Does Dr Pepper dislike us?🥴.”

Fans were undeniably distraught over the news, with several mourning, “NOOOO. my favorite Dr Pepper ever. 😢.”

“Man that one was good,” one affirmed, as another shared, “I have good memories with this flavor sad I won’t be able to try again.”

“Damn why only in the boot though?” someone else wondered.

“Only in Louisiana!? The hell makes them so special??? Bro I was looking forward to this release so bad,” another vented.

“Ugh 😢,” one complained tamely, as another asserted, “What a dumb idea! 😡,” and a third snapped, “Bullshit! I need that.”

One came in with their thinking cap on, though, suggesting a potential at-home solution for the inaccessibility: “I wonder if you could get the same effect by taking vanilla ice cream and pour[ing] Dr. Pepper over it.”
