It’s back again for another year, throwing its biggest celebration yet!
AsiaFest 2025 is coming to Edmonton from Sept. 12 to 14, highlighting the vibrant cultures of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, which are taking centre stage this year.
For three whole days in the Currents of Windemere, you can expect over 100 vendors bringing food and artisan goods, over 40 performances on the big stage all weekend, and an all-new extreme eating contest. This weekend is going to blow you away, for sure.
What to expect
The festival features a diverse array of merchants offering intricate items and gifts, as well as food vendors serving delicious and mouthwatering delicacies.
Some highlight vendors are Masa Crafts Studio, selling its signature “clicker” fidget toys, or the delectable Indonesian food truck Satay Madura.
Performances will also be featured at the festival! On each day, there will be two stages with different performances taking place at all times. There’s always something to sit down and watch or participate in.
AsiaFest will also host its own Extreme Eating Contest, where participants will compete against each other for the ultimate prize.
People looking to take on the challenge of the Lee Kum Kee and AsiaFest Extreme Eating Contest can register online if aged 18 or over. Once registered, the first round begins on Friday.
Participants will have five minutes to eat one plate of 10 dumplings at a time, up to a maximum of three plates. Only water is allowed, and it will be provided. The top five contestants with the fastest time or the fewest dumplings will move on to the final.
For the final round on Saturday, participants are given five minutes again, with 50 dumplings served at once. The top three contestants, with either the fastest finish or the fewest dumplings left, will be declared the winners.
Windemere is going to light up with cultural spirit from this bright, vibrant festival. Don’t miss out on it next weekend!
