Two Emily in Paris (Netflix)stars were spotted in Montreal recently, giving fans a taste of the Québécois spinoff we never knew we needed: Julien and Luc in Montreal.

Between press events, French actors Samuel Arnold and Bruno Gouery toured Montreal landmarks, picked sides in the city’s legendary bagel battle and filmed their first time trying poutine — an experience which left one of them confused and the other converted.

In an Instagram video, Arnold, who plays Julien, is seen digging into a poutine from La Banquise.

“What kind of cheese is that?” he asks, appearing slightly unsettled yet intrigued.

“Squeaky cheese,” responds a voice from off-camera.

“It’s what?” Arnold says, scrunching up his forehead in a bout of confusion. After a beat, he continues: “Because when you bite it it goes squeaky, squeaky?!” (Congrats on passing your Quebec citizenship test, Samuel Arnold! Now you can definitely shoot a Julien and Luc spinoff here.)

All in all, though, Arnold expresses clear enjoyment of the dish.

Meanwhile, Gouery, who plays Luc, looks hesitant to take a bite. When he finally tastes Canada’s national dish, relief washes over his face.

“When I see it at the beginning, I say, ‘I can’t try this,’ but now it’s very good,” Gouery says.

In terms of Montreal’s Great Bagel Debate, the duo only stopped at one of the city’s iconic bagel spots. Sorry Fairmount, but Saint-Viateur wins this round.

Not only did Arnold and Gouery sample the bagels at St-Viateur, they also rolled up their sleeves and made some themselves while getting a lesson from the staff.

“Mmm,” they remark in a reel, as they bite into sesame-seed bagels dunked in whipped Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

In addition to La Banquise and St-Viateur, the actors also visited The Ring (L’Anneau) art installation at Esplanade PVM and the Old Port’s Notre-Dame Basilica, noting that it’s where Céline Dion got married.

The second half of Emily in Paris season four is set to drop on Netflix Canada this Thursday, September 12.
