Over four years since the closure of the massive Playdium Mississauga, the brand of entertainment centres owned by Cineplex is still alive and well, and just opened its latest location in Toronto.
The theatre giant opened its newest Playdium location in December, adding more than 22,000 square feet of entertainment to CF Fairview Mall, next to Cineplex’s existing cinemas at the shopping centre.
“Adding a new Playdium next to our theatre creates the perfect place for families and friends to enjoy movies, gaming and great food — all in one amazing space,” said Ellis Jacob, President and CEO, Cineplex.
“As the country’s top entertainment destination for Canadians of all ages, we’re excited to bring Playdium to Toronto, where our guests can connect and create memories for both everyday fun and special occasions.”
According to a press release, the new Playdium offers more than 60 amusement games, including arcade classics, racing games, virtual reality, claw machines and Duck Pin bowling.
The venue offers a Swag Shop where you can redeem points from games to win prizes, as well as dining options and private rooms that can be booked out for parties, team building and corporate events.
Playdium’s Fairview Mall location is the brand’s fourth entertainment centre in operation, along with locations in Brampton and Whitby, as well as Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
While it is the only Playdium in Toronto, the new Fairview location is not the first. The brand previously operated a location in the heart of downtown, operating at 126 John Street next to the Scotiabank Theatre until 2010.
Cineplex says that the newly-opened entertainment centre has created almost 100 jobs for the local community.
