European Labour Authority Launched a Report on the HORECA Sector (Hotels, Restaurants, and Cafés – Image Credit HOTREC
The report sheds light on the importance of the sector to the EU’s economy, contributing significantly to employment and economic output.
The report focuses on the specificities of the sector, including labour market dynamics, recruitment practice, employment conditions, enforcement challenges, and information needs.
Given the ELA’s mandate and the nature of the study, the report highlights the difficulties and challenges associated with the enforcement of labour law, labour mobility rules and SSC rules. It is important to note, in this context, that the issues raised should under no circumstances be generalised to the entire Horeca sector and the employers and workers comprising this sector.
