Explosive New Spider-Man Spinoff Will Bridge the Gap After Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s Finale

The finale of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was one of the most explosive we’ve ever seen, featuring several staggering reveals involving time loops, paradoxes, and even the arrival of Doctor Strange. While we don’t know all the details of season 2, showrunner Jeff Trammell confirmed that it will include a time skip, allowing fans to return to the action with a more confident Peter Parker.

However, fans who worried that this would mean they won’t see the repercussions of the shocking first-season finale shouldn’t fret. A new comic spinoff series will bridge the gap between seasons.

The official synopsis for the new comic series is below:

Peter Parker is ready to save the world thwip by thwip! But things aren’t perfect. He’s been drifting away from his friends. And Norman Osborn may be out of the spider business, but Harry doesn’t think things are over just yet. Something’s happening at Oscorp, and Spidey and his friends need to figure out what it is!

The four-issue comic book series, titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (let’s hope that doesn’t get confusing) will be written by Christos Gage and drawn by artist Eric Gapstur. Both previously worked on the prequel comic, also titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which follows Peter Parker in the early days of discovering his powers and navigating freshman-year challenges. The new comic will also feature cover art by Leonardo Romero and Luciano Vecchio.

This time, Gage and Gapstur team up to set the stage for the animated series’ highly anticipated second season, exploring Oscorp’s mysteries and introducing iconic Spider-Man allies and supervillains.

“I’m beyond excited to return to the world of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!” Gage shared in a press release. “Just like last time, showrunner Jeff Trammell has been incredibly generous about coordinating in a way that makes our story a firm part of the show’s continuity.”

“Best of all, Eric Gapstur returns on art, and while he was great before, he’s leveled up,” Gage revealed. “Wait until you see his work on Spidey, Daredevil, and classic Spider-Man villains finally making their debut here…whoops, spoiler! It’s a real pleasure to be a part of this take on Spidey that combines the feel of the Silver Age with new and exciting characters and situations. I hope I get to do it again next year!”

The first issue of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on Dec. 9. Pre-orders are available at your local comic store.
