The Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva is set to host the largest hotel contents auction in Europe in February 2025. This auction is sparked by the hotel’s major renovation plans, resulting in the entire contents of the establishment being put up for sale.

Since its opening in 1885, the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva has been an iconic hotel and a leading figure in the luxury hospitality industry. It is known for its prime location on the shores of Lake Geneva, offering stunning views of the Jet d’Eau fountain, Mont Blanc, and the French Alps. The hotel comprises 412 rooms and suites, several high-end restaurants, a spa complex, a 1,400-seat theatre, and the Java nightclub.

Over four days, a variety of unique lots will be offered for sale, including furnishings, artwork, and accessories from guest bedrooms, as well as assets from the hotel’s restaurants, banqueting halls, commercial kitchens, terrace furniture, and the Théâtre du Léman.

The auction comes as the Fairmont Hotel plans to undergo a significant transformation starting in Q2 2025. The renovation’s goal is to create a new symbol of forward-thinking design and sustainable luxury for both local and global visitors.

The auction will cover every part of the hotel, from the basement to the penthouse. Thousands of items from guest rooms, lobbies, kitchens, specialized areas such as the spa, fitness center, conference spaces, and a 1,328-seat theatre will be available for purchase. This broad range of items presents potential buyers from various industries with a vast selection to explore.

Key items include guestroom and lobby furniture, conference and banqueting furniture and equipment, commercial kitchen assets, theatre equipment, spa and fitness equipment, office equipment, artworks, outdoor and terrace furniture, and laundry and back-of-house gear.

The auction is significant not only for its scale but also for its emphasis on sustainability. Instead of disposing of these items, the auction enables extensive recycling and repurposing, supporting a circular economy.

The auction, conducted by Pro Auction, will occur at the hotel from 17-20 February 2025, commencing at 10.00 CET daily. Online bidding will also be available via a live webcast simultaneously. Viewing arrangements can be made with the auctioneers from February 10, 2025. The catalogue is available to download from the bidding website.
