From coast to coast, everything is more beautiful in the fall, and Alberta is no exception. As long as the weather cooperates, Calgary is extra special and there are plenty of exciting ways to celebrate pumpkin spice and everything nice.

The best part? Some of these things are free—but you’ll need to be prepared!

Here’s when the season starts, what to expect, and what to mark on your calendar.

When does fall 2024 start?

The leaves may have already started to change colours, but the official start of the season will not occur until the Autumnal Equinox on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 8:44 am EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. This is when days will become shorter—but it won’t be long until we fall back.

When does Daylight Saving end in 2024?

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Canadians who do recognize DST should set a reminder to adjust their watch and microwave on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 at 2 am local time.

By doing this, we’ll all have gained one hour and will see the sunrise (and sunset) earlier than the day before. Luckily, most devices—like your phones and TVs will reset on their own—so you won’t have to stress too much!

We may not enjoy doing it, but you’ll adjust quickly—plus, you won’t have to do it again until Sunday, March 9th, 2025!

What will the weather in Calgary be like this fall?

According to The Weather Network, the Prairies will be warmer than normal. There, will, however, there will be periods of chillier weather near October, and precipitation is expected. Overall, it will be a comfortable season—but don’t expect it to last forever.

When winter arrives, it will be abrupt. Luckily for now “the timing remains uncertain.”
