Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson earned his “girl dad” stamp of approval after the latest “unfunny surprise” that he documented in a new video posted on Instagram.
The father of three, who shares his two youngest daughters with wife Lauren Hashian, explained at the beginning of his video on Thursday, Dec. 19, that he recently awoke to discover that his toenails had been painted, a prank that was blamed on one of the family’s Elf on the Shelf toys.

“I wake up in the morning, and my toes are painted,” Johnson, 52, said, aiming the camera down at this feet to capture a full view of the new look as his daughters giggled in the background. “This is crazy.”
As the Fast Five actor moved throughout the house, Jasmine, 9, and Tiana, 6, could be heard explaining that the family’s elves had somehow tapped into a few cans of ZOA, Johnson’s energy drink, after mistaking it for “sparkly fruit punch.” The energy spike resulting from the beverages kept the elves up all night and led to the prank in question, Johnson’s daughters alleged.
In the video, Johnson’s camera panned around to show the elves surrounded by empty cans of ZOA. He zeroed in on an elf that was holding a bottle of red nail polish in its arms.
“Wait, so this was the one who painted my toenails?” the Moana star asked. But when he started to pick up the toy to inspect it, his daughters shrieked in terror. “Don’t touch it!” they exclaimed before informing their dad that his action put the elf at risk of losing its “magic.”
“I didn’t mean to touch the elf,” Johnson said with a small laugh. “They didn’t lose their magic, I promise you.” His daughters ultimately agreed that as long as the elves were only touched by adults, they would retain their special powers—though doing so was still strongly discouraged.
“These Christmas Elves are really getting under my skin!! 🧝🏼♀️🧝🏽😡 And now on my toes while I was asleep – forcing me to wake up to this VERY unfunny surprise 💤💅🏽🦶🏾,” Johnson wrote to caption his post. “If I’m being honest, I think red polish actually brings out even more hyper masculinity and undeniable sexiness, no? 🤔💁🏽♂️ Or maybe I’m just an a**hole for even picking up the Elf to begin with, putting its magic in jeopardy 😂🙋🏽♂️.”
Johnson’s caption ended with a brief message for Kevin Hart, at whom Johnson took an unrelated jab in the final moments of his video. “And I love you @kevinhart4real,” the Red Notice actor wrote.
Fans praised Johnson for being “out here showing us all how to be a real @GirlDad,” with one declaring, “Thats a real girl dad😂😂😂😂” as another wrote, “Aside of being THE ROCK and everything else you are Awesome 😎 at , Worlds 🌎 Greatest Dad added to the mix ❤️‼️💯👏👏👏👏.”
“Haha I do respect Dwayne for how he loves his family and what he does for his kids,” another fan commented.
Johnson is “The Best father and human!❤️,” an Instagram user agreed.
