Fans Debate Salma Hayek’s ‘Mother of the Bride’ Lavender Fashion Moment

Salma Hayek has left fans puzzled with her latest look after the Frida star sported a long-sleeved, lavender lace dress to the Valentino Pavillon des Folies show on Sept. 29.

The tea-length, button-up, belted dress was adorned with rhinestones on the shoulders and wrists, which Hayek paired with rose gold platform heels, strings of pearls joined by a large cream flower, and oversized square black sunglasses. The Paris fashion week ensemble was topped with a lavender headwrap.

Fans were quick to question the look on social media, with one X user asking “who did this to her,” and another writing “was the dress code for the valentino show to dress like an aunt in her sunday best.”

Others chimed in with comparisons, saying the Magic Mike’s Last Dance star’s outfit screamed “mother of the bride,” or that it seemed like something “the First Lady of a baptist church in Alabama” would wear. One user simply said “I do not like.”

However, several others said the vibes were more wealthy auntie than anything else, with one person saying “A rich tía has been spotted” and another calling her “La patrona,” or “the boss” in Spanish.

Hayek was not the only celebrity to opt for lavender at the event, as Elton John wore the same shade to the fashion show.

The “I’m Still Standing” singer wore a pale purple suit topped with a pink heart-shaped brooch, an earth-toned patterned shirt, and lime green sneakers.

Both stars attended with their husbands—Hayek with François-Henri Pinault and John with David Furnish.

Earlier this month, Hayek celebrated her daughter Valentina’s 17th birthday, taking to Instagram to share her love for the teenager. “She makes me laugh all day, teaches me so many things, keeps me motivated, inspires in so many ways,” the Without Blood actress wrote alongside a carousel of photos and videos of her daughter.
