Fans watching Coldplay perform at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday, June 29, got a major surprise when none other than Michael J. Fox arrived onstage to play guitar and join the show.

Lead singer Chris Martin kindly introduced the Back to the Future actor, saying, “With his Chuck Berry riff, and the way he punched Biff, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.”

Fox held a peach pink-colored guitar as he sat onstage, showing off his musical talent during Coldplay’s performance of the hit song “Fix You.”

Many fans of the band and of Fox were stunned to see the special moment. In comments some people posted on a YouTube clip of the performance, one fan wrote, “Michael J. Fox making a guest appearance brings all the feels,” while another said, “This song ALWAYS makes me cry but seeing Michael J. Fox jam out on guitar REALLY brought the tears.”

“MJF is an absolute legend and deserves to be with this legendary band…try to hold back tears,” said a different fan, as someone else chimed in, “Wow. Michael J Fox on stage made a beautiful song more beautiful. Didn’t think that was possible.”

Others felt just as emotional, with some sharing personal stories of how Fox and Coldplay have positively affected them. One fan declared after seeing the video, “Can’t help but get goosebumps listening to this.”

Fox, Martin and the rest of the band finished up the emotional performance, with the lead singer saying to Fox, “Thank you to our hero forever, and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox,” after saying Back to the Future is the “main reason we’re in a band.”

The actor previously joined Coldplay onstage in 2016 during a concert in New Jersey, with Fox and the band taking on the song “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry, which features in Back to the Future.
