Between Moo Deng the pygmy hippo and Pesto the giant King Penguin chick, cute and quirky baby animals are all the rage at the moment—and even celebrities are totally obsessed.
Katy Perry had the pleasure of meeting Pesto in person while in Melbourne this week, where she’ll be performing at the Australian Football League Grand Final, and fans are freaking out over the video she shared on TikTok documenting the adorable experience.
In the clip, Perry burst into song when she first spotted Pesto, who skyrocketed to fame recently because of his impressive size.
“He’s just a little baby,” she sang, gazing at the penguin adoringly.
After snagging a pair of penguin-printed socks, Perry washed her hands to prep before entering the penguin enclosure. She was also given a bubble wand by an aquarium employee who explained that “Pesto loves bubbles.”

Once inside the exhibit, Perry greeted the animals enthusiastically.
“Hi guys,” she said, as a group of penguins approached her curiously.
That curiosity quickly turned into suspicion, however, and the aquatic birds started making alarmed noises.
“OK, I hear you,” Perry said, raising her hands in surrender.
Pesto himself seemed unfazed by Perry’s presence, though he did look mildly interested in the bubbles and flapped his wings after she asked him to wish her luck before her upcoming gig.

Perry’s followers loved seeing the two stars connect in real life, with many wishing they could take her place.
“The collab we didn’t expect, but the collab we so desperately needed,” wrote one fan.
“I’ve never been more jealous of someone in my life,” admitted a second TikTok user.
“When two icons meet,” commented a third person, with someone else adding that “this is 100% what I would do with my money if I was rich and I respect it.”
“Now go visit Moo Deng plsssssss,” begged another fan.
