Social media (and the internet in general) is useful for staying up on the latest trends and specific dress code expectations. Whether it’s learning how to build a “capsule wardrobe,” figuring out what “business casual” really means or hearing that “Millennial” skinny jeans are officially “out,” there are plenty of style guidelines readily available from personal stylists and other experts in the fashion space.

One fashion advisor, in particular, is sharing a bold message on her platform for women with “boring” style—and providing tips to help viewers elevate their current looks.

“The best dressed women you see know how to do this one thing and it has nothing to do with shopping,” Bari, The Curated Tastemaker on TikTok, began a recent video. “It’s about iterating—and if you’re not practicing this, then you probably have a weak sense of personal style.”

“The good news is the technique is absolutely free,” she continues. “And you can start learning how to do it today.”

Iteration is “essential to learn how to define your personal style,” according to Bari, who captioned her video: “If you don’t learn to iterate you’ll never have good style. Learning to iterate within your signature style will open endless doors of creativity & bring the joy back to getting dressed.”

Her followers agree.

One commenter said, “Yes!!! I love this. I think most people conflate personal style with just buying the latest season of trending brands.”

“Very insightful!” another person wrote. “I have some personal style, but I’m going to think about this to see if I do have anything unique to me.”

Another response summarized the vibe well: “It’s like different versions of a font.”

Someone else wrote under the video, “YES. I feel like the best dressed girlies always have a lük.”

In Bari’s response to that comment, she reiterated that the best dressed women have something “highly identifiable about their style,” whether it’s “physical or in spirit.”
