Linda Thompson Says She Loved Lisa Marie Presley ‘With All My Heart’
After Keough, 36, shared an Instagram post earlier this week to give fans an update on her mom’s 2024 memoir From Here to the Great Unknown, Thompson took to the comments to send a heartfelt message to the Daisy Jones & the Six actress.
In her message, Thompson, 75, wrote, “I loved your mother with all my heart. She was a precious, precocious, funny, brilliant, affectionate little girl who grew into a fierce and talented woman.”
At the time of Thompson’s relationship with Elvis, which lasted for four years between 1972 and 1976, Lisa Marie was just a young girl. She was born in February 1968 to Elvis and his ex-wife Priscilla Presley.
“She was also a woman who loved her children with her whole heart,” Thompson continued in her message, while telling Keough, “You are a beautiful representative of your darling mama, Riley. Congratulations on bringing Lisa Marie’s poignant story to life. Always sending you and your beautiful family my love.❤️🙏🏻⚡️💫”
Less than a year after Thompson’s relationship with Elvis ended, the legendary “Burning Love” crooner died in August 1977 at the age of 42.
Riley Keough Celebrates ‘New Little Life’ for Her Mom’s Autobiography
In her Instagram post on Tuesday, Nov. 11, Keough announced that her mom’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, is now available in paperback edition.
Keough—who was asked by her mother in 2022 to help her write the book—finished Lisa Marie’s work after her death in 2023 at the age of 54. The book, which also features chapters written by Keough, was published in October 2024.
“Today the paperback edition of my mother’s Autobiography FROM HERE TO THE GREAT UNKNOWN is out,” Keough wrote in her Instagram post on Tuesday. “I do wish she was here to have seen the overwhelming response her book. She would have been reading all of the comments and the dms about how many people related to her story in some way and found it to be cathartic.”
“I’m excited for this new little life the book is having and for it to end up in more people’s hands who may have the same experience,” the Under the Bridge star added. “Thanks to everyone on her behalf for all of the love and support.”
