Fortnite teases upcoming Gaming Legends season with hidden Easter egg

The final update of this Fortnite season went live last Thursday. Patch v41.30 brought back The Simpsons for an exciting yet unexpected crossover event with John Wick. Spider-Man was another big part of the update; new cosmetics became available, and fan-favorite items, such as the Web-Shooters, were unvaulted to celebrate the launch of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. New sprites and gizmos were added as well to make it easier for fans to finish their in-game sprite collection.

This is just what update v41.30 added to Fortnite as soon as downtime ended. It also featured content for the upcoming few weeks, so fans could be entertained until the end of Chapter 7 Season 3. Dataminers started digging through the encrypted game files once they were available for download. This is how they’re able to get information on content that is not yet available and provide juicy leaks.

The most notable leak from this update was the strange posters featuring well-known video game characters. According to ShiinaBR, a known Fortnite leaker, the posters were found in the same file as many assets for the upcoming story event. Therefore, these Gaming Legends posters are most likely related to the next Fortnite season.

“Gaming Legends” is the locker category that features video game cosmetics. This has led the community to believe that Chapter 7 Season 4 will be Gaming Legends-themed. From the posters and other previous leaks, it is expected to feature the following franchises:

• Pac-Man
• Tetris
• Persona
• Sonic
• Kingdom Hearts
• Mega Man

While the posters were interesting, the idea of a gaming-themed season was mostly a rumor until recently. However, this week, players noticed that they could hear the Pac-Man intro track at Wonkeeland, a named location on the Battle Royale map. Fans who are curious and want to see for themselves should head to the stone structure on the northeastern part of the POI. At the top, players will hear a faint yet recognizable jingle.

More teasers are bound to appear in the days leading up to the season finale. The story event is expected to take place on Saturday, Aug. 15, a few days before the end of Chapter 7 Season 3. Gamers will definitely know more by then. Until then, they should keep an eye out for posters on the Battle Royale island.
