You have to give it to Epic Games: Eight years into Fortnite‘s content updates, the developer still routinely finds ways to keep the island feeling fresh. Rather than merely plopping The Simpsons characters into some Fortnite skins and calling it a day, the battle royale game has been completely transformed to match the look and feel of the influential cartoon. It’s the first time Epic Games has attempted anything like this in Fortnite, but don’t expect the mini-season to be as grand as the normal game.
The event will incorporate many of The Simpsons‘ famous locales, like the Springfield nuclear power plant where Homer works and Apu’s Kwik-E-Mart. Some points of interest, however, are more Fortnite themed than The Simpsons. There’s a Krusty Burger area, for example, but there’s also a Durr Burger area that is not from the show. Some areas hark back to The Simpsons, but don’t fully match their source material. Still, players will be able to explore all of their favorite iconic areas — including the Simpson family’s famous living room.
The mini-event will also scale down to accommodate only 80 players rather than the typical 100 in battle royale. Epic Games notes it will take a “back to basics” approach that’s a little more fast-paced than usual. Every week will see a new gameplay addition tied to The Simpsons, alongside shop updates and new sidekick pets that will follow the player around.
The Simpsons will also be gracing other modes, like Fortnite‘s Delulu offering and Rocket League. The battle pass will be stocked with Homer, Marge, Flanders, Blinky Fishstick, and a Peely designed to look like it belongs in the show. Leaks suggest that fans can expect a handful of NPCs that players can interact with during a match, and bosses to defeat — an approach that Fortnite typically takes every time there’s a themed event.
Expect The Simpsons-themed pickaxes and gliders, one of which you’ll be able to nab without spending any money. Fortnite will now allow players to link their Disney accounts in exchange for a Kang and Kodos glider. As plugged-in fans know, Kang is Maggie’s biological father; the pair of aliens are invaders who often show up during the spooky-themed Treehouse of Horrors. The promotion coincides with a slate of The Simpsons shorts that will release weekly during the event, which players can watch either on Disney Plus or in-game.
While Fortnite has done collaborations similar to the upcoming Simpsons one, they are typically much smaller in scope. This is a rare instance of a collaboration affecting the entire island, both in terms of new locations and also graphical style. The mini-season will begin on Nov. 1, and it will conclude with an event that will officially launch the next fully-fledged season of the ever-evolving game.
Elsewhere, The Simpsons‘ 40th season is scheduled for release in 2028, and a new Simpsons movie has been greenlit for 2027.
