The Evans family secret is out on Found!

After a chance encounter, Margaret (Kelly Williams) realized that Heather (Danielle Savre) was really Hugh’s/Sir’s (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) sister. Margaret looped Gabi (Shanola Hampton) in on the discovery at the end of last week’s episode. But Thursday night’s episode of Found saw the Evans siblings put together their own game plan now that their secret was discovered.

At least, coming up with a plan was what Lena hoped would happen. Instead, she was confronted with the fact that Hugh had every intention of picking Gabi, even if it meant selling his sister down the river.

“She’s in shock and she’s hurt,” Savre confessed to Parade in a recent interview. “There’s definitely a softer side of Lena than there is to Hugh. There’s a lot of hurt there that her brother would choose this woman over her.”

Hugh had been hesitant to take any of Lena’s advice that would jeopardize Gabi’s freedom or paint the investigator in a negative light. When he told Lena to get out of town rather than continue the legal battle to get him free, she realized that Gabi was too much of an obstacle in their relationship for her to overcome by herself.

“When she tells him [she ’s been found out], she expects more ‘How are we going to solve this? How are we going to work this out as a team?’ There is no working together. In Lena’s mind, he’s so blinded by this obsession with Gabi, so the only option is to get rid of Gabi,” Savre elaborated.

“There was a world in which she was just trying to figure out how to win in court. She took on this identity and she was going to make sure there were no loose ends. Sadly, sometimes Lena thinks she’s a little smarter than she is. She thinks she’s as smart as Hugh. I would love to say she is, but I just don’t think she’s as manipulative as him. Her goal was to prove that [20 years ago] Gabi chose to go with Hugh willingly. She was going to prove that all of it wasn’t true and that Hugh wasn’t the villain.”

A massive snowstorm stopped Lena from going directly after Gabi, at least for now. It remains to be seen how Lena plans to “get rid of Gabi,” but the vendetta won’t be helped by Lena’s obvious lingering feelings for Trent (Brett Dalton).

“She has feelings for Trent. There’s something that she can’t clock. She has something towards Trent. There’s a feeling she’s never had before,” Savre explained. But those feelings will be tested. “All of the men in Lena’s life are choosing Gabi over her. Why? She’s the villain! Why can’t they just believe Lena?… Lena has affection and care for someone, and she’s never felt that before, besides her brother, which she is realizing is not really affection and care.”

Lena has her back against the wall. Gabi and the rest of M&A know who she truly is and are very close to having air-tight proof to prove it. Trent is helping them figure it out. Savre still hopes that there’s some chance for redemption for Lena because she’s not as bad as everyone at M&A would have you believe.

“I think Lena really believes that she and Sir had this bond and this connection. I look at it as essentially, Lena was Hugh’s first victim in a sense. He basically molded her for 18 years,” the actress revealed. “They grew up in the same household, but she is not the same as Hugh. There’s something different in her than in Hugh. She thought they had the bond and they were connected. She thought they were a team. This is the only family she has and the only love that she’s ever known…She’s under his control in a weird way, but then not really because he wants Gabi and not her.”

Will Hugh’s betrayal be the key to Lena finding the light or will she go down protecting her manipulative brother?

Found Season 2 continues Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Episodes are available the next day on Peacock.
