While it may be a little hard to believe on days like today, March is here and spring is right around the corner. Out of the many things to look forward to (like warmer weather) Spring break is coming up! Even if you’re not flying off to a tropical destination, there are still lots of things to do in the city. Whether you have a little time to yourself, or need ideas to keep your family busy, here are all the free and cheap things to do in and around Calgary for March break.
City of Calgary Youth Hiring Fair
If you, or someone who lives with you, is between the ages of 15 and 24, The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre (YEC) is hosting a free career fair. Mix and mingle with 80 different employers offering part-time, full-time, permanent and seasonal jobs.
When: Thursday, March 27, 2025, 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Eva Newman: In My Mind’s Eye
Get a taste of art and culture with “In my mind’s eye.” This exhibition in Marda Loop will feature new paintings, both acrylics and watercolours, centred on landscapes, still lifes and self-portraits, from artist Eva Newman. It’s free to attend at cSPACE, which is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

World of Wheels
This one is for the car nuts! Come down to BMO Centre and admire Western Canada’s finest hot rods, customs, trucks, and motorcycles. There will be a celebrity showcase along with contests, displays, and shopping among other attractions.

Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show
Gather some inspiration for the warmer season at Western Canada’s largest showcase of outdoor gear and adventure travel experiences. The Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show will be in town for the last weekend of March Break, so check it out to plan your summer excursions or get some new gear.

Festival of Animated Objects
The Festival of Animated Objects is back in and there’s a packed lineup that starts mid-March until the end of the month. This annual puppet festival will have events happening all over the city, from exhibitions and performances to hands-on workshops and family-friendly events.
