Frontmezzjunkies reports: THE DOORS OF THE DELACORTE OPEN TONIGHT FOR FREE SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK’S TWELFTH NIGHT
The wait is finally over—TWELFTH NIGHT kicks off tonight, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The revitalized Delacorte Theater is lighting up Central Park once again, marking a bold new chapter for this iconic stage after months of renovation. And this theatre junkie is ready for it!
This isn’t just a new season; it’s a celebration of what the theater—and public space—can be. The star-studded TWELFTH NIGHT isn’t merely a play; it’s a platform for democracy, a gathering place, a vibrant hub built on values we all cherish: access, community, inclusion, and pure joy. I’m counting down the hours until my friends and I can be there, ready to revel in this momentous return and enjoy Free Shakespeare in the Park once again.
And don’t forget—tickets are more accessible than ever! Expanded voucher distribution kicks off today, giving everyone a chance to experience the magic. So, grab your friends, your picnic blanket, and your excitement (we will be doing that soon!) — Opening Night is here, and we can’t wait to celebrate its return in the heart of Central Park!
Saheem Ali (Broadway’s Fat Ham; Buena Vista Social Club), who has also cut down the play to 90 minutes, will direct. The show will run at the newly renovated Delacorte Theater from August 7 to September 14. It will be the first production at the Delacorte following the closure of the famed theatre for the last two years to undergo an almost $ 80 million renovation. (And I can’t wait to see what they have done!)
Don’t miss these five ways to access free tickets to TWELFTH NIGHT:
- Distribution in Central Park
- In-person lottery at The Public Theater
- Distribution across all five boroughs
- Digital lottery with TodayTix
- Standby line in Central Park
When is it your night? How are you getting your tickets?
