For her upcoming comedy show, ‘Full House’ star Jodie Sweetin may be taking a page out of her on-screen dad, Bob Saget‘s book, with no sign of his beloved wholesome character, Danny Tanner, in sight.
“If you’re expecting ‘Full House’ humor, I would say this is not that at all,” she said in a recent interview with the San Francisco Chronicle while chatting about the show. “This is more Bob Saget, less Danny Tanner.”
The actress whose event, “Smoke Show With Jodie Sweetin,” is taking place at San Francisco Sketchfest on Jan. 24, says that Saget’s unfiltered and sometimes vulgar sense of humor, which was quite the opposite of the, literally, squeaky clean Tanner, has stuck with her throughout the years.
“I was just a sponge, soaking up blue comedy from Bob my entire life. He was always looking for a joke in any possible situation, no matter how dark,” she said. “And once I left the ‘Full House’ kids table, Bob and I would just toss it back and forth. We were the ones who always derailed the cast’s text group chats.”
As filming for the sitcom wrapped in 1995, Sweetin, who turned 44 on Monday, went on to star in various ’90s shows, including Party of Five, and several TV movies. Fast forward to 2016 and a majority of the cast, including Saget, Cameron Candice Bure,John Stamos,Dave Coulier, and Andrea Barber reunited in 2016 the Netflix reboot of the series, Fuller House. The show aired until 2020.
Saget died in 2022 of blunt head trauma due to an accidental fall in an Orlando hotel. He was 65.

The cast has always maintained a connection throughout the years though, with many commemorating the recent 4-year-anniversary of Saget’s death.
“I was recently texting with Stamos, and I said, ‘God, I wish Bob was here to come to one of my shows,” Sweetin recalled.
She currently hosts the podcast “How Rude, Tanneritos” with Barber, who played the TV family’s neighbor, Kimmy Gibbler. Sweetin, a mom-of-two, also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2016.
