Garner Hotels, a conversion brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, is marking its first anniversary with a continued expansion strategy. The brand launched as IHG’s 19th global brand in August 2023, and it stands out for its owner-friendly model, commitment to service, and focus on core traveler needs at an affordable price.
By the end of 2024, Garner Hotels expects to have over 90 hotels either open or under development worldwide. The brand’s first property, Garner Auburn, located in Seattle, opened seven weeks after its conversion in December 2023. The brand has since opened properties in Oklahoma City, Macon, Clarksville, and Aiken, with upcoming openings planned in additional U.S. markets such as Gillette, Augusta, Topeka, Phoenix, Virginia Beach, and Longview.
Garner Hotels has also attracted interest from global property owners and developers, resulting in 58 of the 76 properties signed in the first half of 2024 originating from European markets.
The brand is expanding to Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, the U.K., and Turkey. Additionally, it will debut in Japan with the upcoming openings of Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Station, Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Midosuji, and Garner Hotel Osaka Honmachi Kita Semba. This expansion contributes to Garner Hotels’ goal of having 500 hotels open worldwide in the next 10 years and 1,000 hotels in the next 20 years.
Karen Gilbride, VP of Garner Hotels, commented on the brand’s growth, highlighting its appeal to owners seeking a high-quality conversion brand and travelers seeking quality, price-friendly stays. The brand aims to provide a distinctive experience with amenities like a hot breakfast station, 24/7 coffee, and a daily cookie happy hour. Guests can also take advantage of the IHG One Rewards loyalty program.
