When it comes to relationships, Natasha Lyonne is perhaps still best known for her eight-year romance with SNL alum Fred Armisen. But these days, the 46-year-old Fantastic Four: First Steps star is dating someone totally new: filmmaker and entrepreneur Bryn Mooser. And from the sounds of it, she’s relishing this era of her love life.

“Being in your 40s is so much better than being in your f–king 20s and 30s. It’s so much cooler. It’s so much sexier,” she told Variety in 2023, the year she stepped out with Mooser. “My romantic life is more happening. Back then, I was waiting to be selected. Once you’re in your 40s, you’re like, ‘Who am I attracted to?’ We’re all going to die, right? So I better get my living in quick.”

Does Natasha Lyonne have a husband?

The Russian Doll star is not married and never has been. “Marriage is too much logistics,” she tweeted in 2019.

But based on her romantic track record, she doesn’t seem to have anything against committed relationships in general. She’s currently in one with entrepreneur/filmmaker Bryn Mooser and was previously involved with Portlandiastar Fred Armisen for eight years.

Is Natasha Lyonne currently in a relationship?

She sure is. The Poker Face actress has been linked to Bryn Mooser, a filmmaker and entrepreneur, since 2023. Although she hasn’t publicly shared many details about her relationship, she’s certainly not keeping it under wraps. She and Mooser are frequently spotted together on the red carpet and have been since they attended the London premiere of We Dare to Dream in November 2023. (At the Independent Spirit Awards in 2025, Lyonne pulled Mooser into a pic with her, telling photographers, “I think I will take a boyfriend picture, thank you so much.”)

Lyonne has also shared a number of photos of Mooser on her Instagram page, often with a heart emoji somewhere in the caption.

What does Natasha Lyonne’s boyfriend, Bryn Mooser, do for a living?

Mooser, who studied film at Bennington College followed by three years in the Peace Corps, has had his hand in several successful ventures. In 2012, he co-created a platform called RYOT News, which encouraged advocacy journalism by telling readers how they could take action after engaging with a story. Over time, the company expanded into documentary filmmaking, producing the Oscar‑nominated short Body Team 12, and immersive formats like virtual-reality news content. In April 2016, HuffPost (then part of AOL/Verizon) acquired RYOT for a whopping $10-to-15 million.

Mooser also founded a documentary film production company, XTR, in 2019. (The late Tony Hsieh, one-time CEO of Zappos, invested $17.5 million into the company.)

Most recently, Mooser cofounded Asteria, a “clean” generative AI film and animation studio, alongside Lyonne. The company prides itself on using only “ethically sourced” data (i.e. data that is copyright-cleared) to train its AI. Lyonne is set to direct and star in the studio’s first feature film, Uncanny Valley, with a script written by Brit Marling.

The project drew backlash, with some critics saying that there’s no ethical way to use AI, especially in the arts, which Lyonne addressed in an interview with THR. “There’s nothing I love more than movies. Cinema is my very celluloid blood that runs through these veins,” she said. “I love nothing more than filmmaking, the filmmaking community, the collaboration of it, the tactile fine art of it. I love every aspect of it — it’s so incredible. I understand my own church, in a way, even when the rest of the world doesn’t make sense. In no way would I ever want to do anything other than really create some guardrails or a new language.”

In an interview with VP Land, Mooser referred to Lyonne as a “tremendous filmmaker and a futurist.”

“She also understood that AI was going to be inevitable,” he added. “And I think as an indie filmmaker, [she] was like, ‘Shouldn’t we be at the table? If we’re not at the table we’re being served.’”

Mooser’s admiration for his partner is mutual. Celebrating Asteria on Instagram, Lyonne called him a “visionary.”

“Whoever said this medium ‘couldn’t be done’ without scraped data, had never seen a maverick with a glint in his eye reply, ‘watch me,'” she wrote. “An honor to witness this majestic love of humanity first hand.”

How did Natasha Lyonne and Bryn Mooser meet?

It’s unclear how the couple met, but they have known each other since at least 2022, which is when they cofounded Asteria.

When did Natasha Lyonne and Fred Armisen date?

The former couple, a match made in weirdo heaven, dated from 2014 to 2022. They met through Maya Rudolph, who brought Armisen over to Lyonne’s apartment only for them to find her chain-smoking in a silk robe and sunglasses. “I pulled out a copy of [Legs McNeil’s punk oral history] Please Kill Me, autographed it, and was like, ‘Welcome, kid. Fred—what a name. Happy birthday. Enjoy the book,’” Lyonne told Glamour in 2019. “He still has it.”

They went on to become a delightful addition to many a red carpet, including at the 2015 Emmys, where he wore a Freddy Krueger glove and she wore a fringe dress.

What happened between Natasha Lyonne and Fred Armisen?

The pair split amicably in 2022, which Lyonne confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I honestly think we broke up because I wanted a swimming pool,” she said jokingly. “We love each other just about as much as two people can love each other and we’re still talking all the time, but Freddy doesn’t like a swimming pool.” If there was a less facetious reason for their breakup, neither party ever shared it with the world.

“We love each other so much,” Lyonne told Neal Brennan on “The Blocks” podcast. “We text every day.”

For his part, Armisen has said he considers his relationship with Lyonne to be a success. “That ended well and, like, we’re still friends,” he said on David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast. “It made me feel like it was part of getting older that I could approach being in a relationship in a different way. I can look back at that relationship with a sort of peaceful happiness, and that’s how it was.”

Did Natasha Lyonne date Edward Furlong?

Indeed she did. The ‘90s darlings met while shooting the film Detroit Rock City. “I was crazy for him on that movie set,” Lyonne told Harper’s Bazaarin 2017. The pair dated for about a year-and-a-half, from 1998 to 1999, but despite what the press said, their relationship didn’t end dramatically. “Not everything is a huge blowout,” Lyonne told Bust in 2001. “Not everything is this insane intense romance.”
