Gonzalo Aguilar has taken up his position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, effective from 1 January 2025. Aguilar succeeds the previous CEO, Ramón Aragonés, who retired at the end of 2024 but remains a member of the Board of Directors and Non-Executive Vice President.

Before joining Minor Hotels in October 2024, Aguilar has gathered over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. His most recent role was Chief Operating Officer for Europe at Marriott International. During his tenure, Aguilar played a key role in integrating the AC Hotels brand into Marriott. He has had a dynamic career that started with a restaurant management role in Colorado.

At Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, Aguilar’s primary responsibilities will be strengthening the international integration of Minor’s brand portfolio and expediting hotel openings in key markets. He will focus on the luxury and resort segments and work under the company’s ‘asset right’ strategy. This strategy drives sustainable growth by balancing ownership, management, and franchise models.

Aguilar spoke positively about his new role, highlighting his excitement at joining the progressive hospitality group. He expressed his eagerness to work with the teams to build on the company’s strong performance. He also acknowledged the company’s globally recognized brand portfolio and ambitious expansion plans, which he believes will contribute to continued success in profitable market segments.

Aguilar’s appointment will be formalized at the Ordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting, scheduled to take place before 30 June 2025. He has been working closely with Aragonés to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
