The doors of Grey Sloan Memorial are opening once again for Netflix subscribers. Following its dramatic, action-packed finale on ABC, the complete 22nd season of Shonda Rhimes’s record-breaking medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is officially heading to Netflix US this summer.
We can confirm that all 18 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 will be available to stream on Netflix US starting Saturday, June 6th, 2026.
When will Season 22 hit Netflix Canada and Internationally?
As per the traditional broadcast-to-streaming pipeline, Netflix US receives new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy shortly after the season finale airs on ABC (the Season 22 finale wrapped up on May 7th). However, this timeline varies greatly depending on where you live.
- Netflix Canada: Canadian subscribers always have a slightly longer wait. New episode drops don’t arrive as fast as the US, with new seasons typically dropping in the Fall. You can expect Season 22 to arrive on Netflix Canada around September or October 2026.
- International Regions: If you’re outside the US or Canada (such as the UK, Australia, or Latin America), you won’t be seeing Season 22 on Netflix. As we covered extensively back in 2021, Disney pulled the international rights to the show, and it officially departed Netflix in those regions in January 2022. It now streams exclusively on Disney+ globally.
A Quick Note on US Rights: If you’re confused about where Grey’s lives these days, you’re not alone. In early 2024, Disney and Netflix struck a massive new licensing agreement. While Netflix still receives the brand new seasons every summer, it now shares the back-catalog of 400+ episodes with Hulu and Disney+.
Despite the show only being on Netflix in just two regions, the series, thanks to that massive back catalog, still pulls in ridiculous viewing hours for Netflix. In fact, between 2023 and 2025, the series has pulled in 3.629B viewing hours equating to 235.2M views.
The Lowdown: What to Expect from Season 22
If you missed the live broadcasts on ABC, you’re in for a wild ride. Season 22 consists of 18 episodes and picks up immediately after the somber cliffhanger of Season 21.
The premiere, titled “Only the Strong Survive,” deals with the terrifying aftermath of the catastrophic hospital explosion, forcing the staff to make impossible surgical decisions while grappling with their own emotional trauma. The season ramps up the intensity from there, culminating in Episode 18’s massive “bridge collapse” disaster.
Saying Goodbye to Two Fan Favorites
Season 22 is a pivotal chapter for the series, serving as the swan song for two long-time cast members. It has been officially confirmed that Kevin McKidd (who has played Dr. Owen Hunt since Season 5) and Kim Raver (Dr. Teddy Altman) will be departing the series at the end of this season.
Fans will also see Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey) continue in her recurring capacity, appearing in a select number of episodes while retaining her duties as the show’s iconic narrator.
Is ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Renewed for Season 23?
Yes! The medical drama shows no signs of flatlining. Ahead of the Season 22 finale, ABC officially renewed the series for a 23rd season, ensuring it remains the longest-running American primetime medical drama in television history.
