Guinness lovers, pour one out for Baltimore.
Ireland’s most popular brewery announced the closing of its Baltimore location.
“After more than eight years in Baltimore, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery will serve its final pint on Sunday, November 1, 2026,” Guinness announced via Instagram on Thursday, October 1. “Since opening in 2018, we’ve welcomed more than two million visitors and shared Guinness brewing, innovation and hospitality with the Baltimore community.”
They added, “More importantly, we want to recognize our incredible brewing and hospitality team, whose passion and care have been at the heart of this place from the very beginning.”
The Baltimore location — which marked Guinness’ first brewery location in the United States in 60 years — first opened in August 2018.
In a statement, the company pointed to rising operating costs and shifts in consumer demands as the reason for the closure.
“Over the years we’ve brewed more than 700 different beers and raised countless pint glasses every St. Patrick’s Day. Through it all, we’ve been honored to support the Baltimore organizations that make this city what it is. That commitment will outlast our final pour, because Baltimore made us feel at home,” they added via social media. “We’re so grateful for the memories, the friendships and the years we’ve shared.”
A spokesperson for Diageo told WBAL that the company will establish a $250,000 community fund to support local organizations.
Following the closure, the only U.S. location remaining will be in Chicago’s West Loop.
