I don’t want to make a big deal out of this, but I feel like someone at Aldi HQ must be a major Harry Potter fan. More than 600 million copies of the book series have been sold globally, so it stands to reason that theory is correct. In fact, there are probably multiple Potterheads making big-time merch decisions at Aldi. Because even when they aren’t adding licensed products to the Aisle of Shame, they’re sending subtle cues, like a candle they released this summer that looks like it belongs in Dumbledore’s office.

Now, as Halloween season gets underway (we already had Summerween, after all), Aldi is adding Harry Potter accessories to the mix, and they’re perfect as standalone costumes or as an accent to a larger get-up.

For just $4.99 each, you can find a Harry Potter Sorting Hat Headband orHarry Potter Bows (available in each of the four Hogwarts houses, as well as one general HP bow for those who haven’t been “sorted” yet). There’s also a 4.99 Harry Potter necklace that is accented with a few mini Golden Snitches, because what’s a Potter theme without a nod to Quidditch?

Is Aldi Selling Any Other Costume Accessories?

Oh, yeah. Aside from Harry Potter, they’re all in on licensed Hocus Pocus and Nightmare Before Christmas accessories. Each of those movies has their own coordinating headband or necklace. The only accessory they don’t have are themed bows, because they don’t quite work as well with Hocus Pocus and Nightmare Before Christmas as they do with Harry Potter.

Does Aldi Carry a Lot of Harry Potter Merch?

I wouldn’t say a lot, but they do treat us to HP drops every so often. For example, nearly a year ago they introduced the Harry Potter Squishmallow Squad in Aldi, and that was a huge hit among shoppers.

“My husband got all of them and snuck them into my car for me to find after work,” said one excited Potterhead of the 2024 Aldi drop.

Another fan admitted she intended to buy them for her kid, but ended up keeping them for herself, with a good reason.

“I got the Hedwig one the other day—was going to give it to my daughter, but she’s never gotten into HP, and I adore Hedwig,” said the Aldi shopper.

With excitement like that no wonder the retailer keeps bringing back collectibles from the movies.
