The “round-headed buffoon,” aka Mr. K Dilkington, is officially coming to Netflix. In the latest high-profile licensing move from Warner Bros. Discovery, all three seasons of the beloved HBO animated series The Ricky Gervais Show are set to stream on Netflix US for the first time next month.

As confirmed during Netflix’s March 2026 slate reveal, Seasons 1-3 of The Ricky Gervais Show will be available to stream on Netflix US starting Tuesday, March 17th, 2026. We only have confirmation of a US release for now.

Another HBO Gem Joins the Netflix Library

The addition of The Ricky Gervais Show marks a continuation of the licensing bridge between HBO and Netflix. Following the massive success of other acquired titles like Insecure, Ballers, and The Pacific, Netflix is leaning into “comfort comedy” with this latest pickup. The HBO licenses have slowed as of late, with the only recent addition being How To Make It In America back in December, and those other titles slowly bleeding off from Netflix. Warner Bros. Television has been licensing many of its biggest hits to Netflix in the US and internationally, however.

Originally produced by Media Rights Capital and HBO Entertainment, the show ran for 39 episodes between 2010 and 2012. Its move to Netflix comes at a perfect time, as Ricky Gervais continues to be one of the platform’s most-watched creators following the global success of After Life and his record-breaking stand-up specials.

What to expect from The Ricky Gervais Show

If you have never experienced the phenomenon, The Ricky Gervais Show is essentially an animated version of the record-breaking podcasts and XFM radio shows featuring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and the “gimp with a head like a fucking orange”, Karl Pilkington (Gervais’ words, not mine).

The show is animated in a charming, classic Hanna-Barbera style that brings Karl’s bizarre theories and anecdotes to life. From the iconic “Monkey News” segments to Karl’s “Diary” and his unique take on philosophy (including the infamous “Man-Moth”), the series captures the height of the trio’s comedic chemistry.

The series remains a fan favorite with clips across YouTube and TikToks still picking up millions of views.

The Gervais Universe on Netflix

This licensing pickup further solidifies Netflix as the definitive home for Ricky Gervais fans. In addition to the upcoming arrival of this HBO classic, fans can already stream:

  • All three seasons of After Life
  • The scripted series Derek
  • Gervais’s stand-up specials include HumanitySupernatureArmageddon, and the recently released Mortality.

Pro-Tip: Don’t forget that Ricky Gervais’s brand-new adult animated series, Alley Cats, is also expected to premiere on Netflix in 2026, and from what we’re told about its story and making-of behind the scenes, it’s going to be very much up the alley of anyone who loves The Ricky Gervais Show
