The spooky season is finally upon us, which can only mean one thing… the ghosts are back in town.

Edmonton is a historic city, and the rumour is that ghosts lurk around every corner. That’s why ghost tours are being held in various districts and neighbourhoods. Whether it’s in the old Fort Edmonton Park or around the Old Strathcona neighbourhood, there’s something to be said about each part.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the ghost tours around Edmonton to check out this year, especially with Halloween on its way. Without further ado, let’s get into the scares!

Edmonton Ghost Tours offer a haunted history tour, bringing the past back to life in exciting ways. The team offers a variety of tours around the area, each with its own unique charm.

There’s the Old Strathcona tour taking you through the Strathcona Hotel, the Princess Theatre, the Strathcona High School and many more spots. Or, you can explore the ghosts of the University of Alberta with a haunted hike tour.

Those 18 and over can experience a thrilling pub crawl on Whyte Avenue while hearing about the hauntings and ghosts lurking about. For this tour, drinks and food are not included in the ticket price.

The Haunted Trolley Tour takes guests aboard a streetcar. This tour takes you across the historic High Level Bridge and shares stories from the most spooky and gruesome ghost legends.

Each venture has its own charm and unique experience. The Old Strathcona and University of Alberta tours are now available to book, but the rest of the tours are pending a 2025 schedule.

Tours start at $20 for adults for Old Strathcona and $25 for the University of Alberta.

At the historic Fort Edmonton Park, guests can be participants in a real-life ghost hunting investigation.

There are two options for these tours: the Firkins Featured Investigation and the Fort Featured Investigation.

The Firkins House is often regarded as the most haunted building at Fort Edmonton Park. It has years of speculation and paranormal evidence behind it. However, the Rowand House is back by popular demand. It’s one of Fort Edmonton Park’s most paranormal active buildings, with experiences such as strange footsteps and shadows.

These tours are authentic, and the experience cannot guarantee any paranormal interaction. Though, as a bonus, if a building is “quiet,” other buildings may be visited.

Tickets are $67 each tour, and they are already selling out, so book yours quickly.

Get ready to be scared this season, because the ghosts are coming out to play!
