If your New Year’s resolution is to find a better job, Indeed has you covered.
The employment listings site released its ranking of the best jobs in Canada for 2025 this week.
Indeed says the list is compiled using the world’s largest database of job seeker and employer behaviour. It ranks the jobs based on salary, growth and flexibility, as remote and hybrid work remain important for prospective employees.
For a position to be included in this ranking, at least 10 per cent of job listings have to contain the words “remote” or “hybrid.”
All of the work opportunities must also offer a wage above the Canadian median salary of $67,400.
The list measures opportunity growth by the change in percentage of job share, and the role’s availability based on its share of job listings.
“The more widely available the role, the more likely it will make the list,” explained Indeed.
The five best jobs in Canada for 2025 are:
- Outbound Sales Representative
- Nurse Practitioner
- Water Resources Engineer
- Director of Education
- Civil Engineer
Outbound sales representatives took first place. According to Indeed, those jobs have a median annual salary of $108,149, and 39 per cent of positions allow remote work.
“Our data shows a notable uptick in available sales jobs since October, hinting that the downturn since they reached their peak in 2022 may be over,” reads the report.
Nurse practitioner took the second spot with a median annual salary of $115,530 and 1,373 job postings per one million total positions.
“As some healthcare options move online, a growing percentage of nurse practitioner roles allow for remote work,” explained Indeed.
In third place is water resources engineer with a median annual salary of $103,525 and an 84 per cent growth in share of jobs. Director of education takes the fourth spot with a median annual salary of $98,848 and 56 job postings per one million total jobs.
In fifth place is civil engineer with a median annual salary of $91,233 and 488 job postings per one million total jobs.
