Wild Rose Country isn’t known for its beaches, and here, you won’t find shade under a palm tree, but that doesn’t mean summer is a bummer. From scenic hiking trails to rivers and lakes, there are still a ton of wonderful ways to have fun in the sun.
While the Prairies aren’t revered for their sun or sand, we’ve got plenty of both, and a whole lot of water where you can beat the Alberta heat, or rent a boat.
Get My Boat
Want to start your engine? You can actually rent everything from a pontoon and a jet ski to a Seadoo, almost anywhere, anytime, easily.
A website we can only describe as Airbnb for watersports, Get My Boat, has made it its mission to “share the joy of boating with the world, and to empower everyone to make new memories on the water.”
For as little as $80 a day, Albertans can search for their dates and location, then scroll through the many listings, all posted by people ready and willing to let you borrow their boat.
Once you find a watercraft you’d like to rent, send an inquiry and wait for a response from the owner. If they’re able to accommodate you, you can then make a payment and enjoy your trip.
Please note that all operators are still responsible for knowing and following Alberta’s boating rules and regulations.
Be safe, be smart, and have fun this season, Alberta.
Whether you’re in Edmonton, Sylvan Lake, or Calgary, you’re going to have a blast.
Enjoy!
