The list of American goods subject to tariffs when imported into Canada is growing.

After United States President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum products on Wednesday, Canada responded with $29.8 billion worth of retaliatory tariffs.

The federal government is slapping 25 per cent tariffs on a new slate of products originating from the U.S. starting Thursday.

According to the Department of Finance, the tariffs will remain in place “until the U.S. eliminates its tariffs against Canadian steel and aluminum products.”

It adds that Canada’s countermeasures don’t apply to American goods in transit on the day the tariffs kick in.
