Best New Movies & Shows on Netflix Today
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Genre: Biopic, Drama, Music | Runtime: 134 minutes
Ready to rock? The foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury has finally landed on Netflix. Rami Malek completely transforms into Mercury, a role that earned him an Academy Award. A shy misfit transforms into an iconic superstar in this electric biopic inspired by the band’s tumultuous rise to fame, their personal struggles, and their legendary Live Aid performance.
American Gangster (2007)
Genre: Crime, Drama | Runtime: 157 minutes
If you’re looking for a gripping crime epic to sink your teeth into this weekend, look no further. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, this heavy-hitter showcases ambition and corruption clashing in 1970s Harlem. Washington plays a charismatic drug kingpin rising to power, facing off against an upright detective and deadly rivals. It’s a gritty, masterfully acted modern classic and given that Denzel Washington now has a few Netflix projects in the works, including Here Comes the Flood later this year, it’s a great time to revisit.
Love on the Spectrum (Season 4) – Netflix Original
Genre: Docuseries, Reality-TV
A few new Netflix Originals today, but the multi-Emmy-winning one we think you should have on your watch list is Love on the Spectrum. Netflix is bringing back a fourth season of the beloved documentary series that follows young adults on the autism spectrum as they navigate the unpredictable world of dating and look for true love. It’s an uplifting, beautiful, and deeply human show that serves as the perfect palate cleanser.
Participants this season include Connor Tomlinson, Dylan Aguilar, Emma Sue Miller, Georgie Harris, James B. Jones, Logan Pereira, Madison Marilla, Tyler White, and Shelley.
