Great news, Vancouver! The city’s beloved beachside pool in Kitsilano will officially reopen for the season this summer, and the news couldn’t have come at a better time.

While the pool was initially set to remain closed all summer, it looks like our luck is turning around, as the City of Vancouver has just announced that the iconic pool will reopen this August.

What’s more, repair efforts are currently being made to extend the pool’s lifespan by two years, while plans for a ‘modernized replacement’ are underway.

According to the City, the Council has passed a motion to modernize the pool and ensure it remains a ‘vibrant centrepiece’ of Vancouver for generations to come.

“Every Vancouverite has a memory from Kits Pool,” says Mayor Ken Sim. “It’s where many of us learned to swim, where we met up with friends on sunny days, and where families enjoyed summer vacations. As one of the most iconic pools in Canada, our Council is dedicated to ensuring it remains a centrepiece of our city while we move forward with plans for a new facility.”
